The closures, expected to be completed by April, represent only a small portion of the retailer&#8217;s roughly 1,150 locations nationwide.<\/p>\n<p>Company leaders said the decision followed a review of store performance and is intended to improve efficiency while focusing investments on stronger markets. The company is also preparing for a leadership transition, with Ashley Buchanan set to become CEO while outgoing chief executive Tom Kingsbury assists during the transition.<\/p>\n<p>Like many traditional retailers, Kohl&#8217;s has faced challenges from changing consumer shopping habits, rising costs, and increased competition. Softer-than-expected holiday sales have added pressure to improve performance.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the closures, Kohl&#8217;s said it remains committed to investing in store upgrades, digital services, and customer experience improvements.
